What is Tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis (TB) is a potentially serious infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs. It is caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB spreads through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Symptoms

• Persistent cough lasting more than 3 weeks
• Chest pain
• Coughing up blood
• Fatigue
• Weight loss
• Fever and night sweats

Prevention

• Get vaccinated with the BCG vaccine
• Avoid close contact with infected individuals
• Ensure proper ventilation in living spaces
• Wear masks in high-risk areas
• Regular screening in high-risk populations
